Following almost two years of work, Aluminium Dunkerque, in collaboration with the consultancy firm Ekodev, has developed a new CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategy.

As part of its decarbonisation plan, known as LowCal, Aluminium Dunkerque rolled out the ‘2 Tonnes’ workshops to all its staff last March. This awareness-raising initiative, focused on climate issues, reached nearly 500 employees from across all areas of the company.

Last week, Aluminium Dunkerque took part in the second Calais edition of the “Patrons dans ma ville” event, an initiative organised by the Club Les entreprises s’engagent, FACE Côte d’Opale and the CCI Littoral Hauts-de-France, in the presence of the Sub-Prefect of Calais.

Last April, Aluminium Dunkerque took part in a clothing collection drive in aid of the charity La Cravate Solidaire, with the support of the Fondation du Dunkerquois Solidaire, of which the company is a founding member. This charitable initiative rallied many employees around a common goal: to give professional clothing a new lease of life whilst supporting local young people’s access to employment.

On 6 May, Aluminium Dunkerque organised a work-study job fair which brought together around 140 candidates interested in maintenance and production roles leading to a GCSE-level qualification.

The ACCEL project, dedicated to CO₂ capture and storage, has recently reached a major milestone. The government has awarded a grant of €360 million (Call for Tenders for Major Industrial Decarbonisation Projects), recognising both the importance of industrial decarbonisation, the relevance of Carbon Capture & Storage solutions where no technical alternative exists, and the maturity of the project led by Aluminium Dunkerque.

Aluminium Dunkerque has structured its sponsorship policy around two key areas, directly linked to our strategic priorities:

Support for initiatives promoting the integration and employment of young people

Support for initiatives aimed at preserving the environment and, more specifically, accelerating decarbonisation.

These achievements are underpinned by concrete investments and optimisations: the modernisation of equipment through the installation of four adiabatic towers in the maintenance area, enabling water savings of up to 90% for cooling the plant’s air compressors; structured management of consumption; the automation of drainage systems; and the enhancement of the reliability of treatment facilities.

On 3 February, the EDF power station in Gravelines hosted its Industrial Partners Forum at Le Channel in Calais. Our Health and Safety department opened the event by sharing insights into safety management at Aluminium Dunkerque, focusing on four key areas.
