Projects promoting decarbonation of the Dunkirk area
A founding member of collectif CO₂, Aluminium Dunkerque has helped to stimulate a collective dynamic that has especially led to the definition of a CO₂ roadmap for the Dunkirk area coastline and the organisation of three European CO₂, Industries and Territories meetings. This highly ambitious partnership effort which has been ongoing for several years, has led to the creation of France’s leading CO₂ and hydrogen hub. Le Collectif, a genuine tool for structuring and creating partnerships and cooperative ventures, is undoubtedly one of the region’s assets to accelerate change and invent the industry of the future.
Professional integration of young people
Concerned with promoting the professional integration of people who are estranged from employment, especially the youngest, Aluminium Dunkerque is a founding member of the Fondation du Dunkerquois solidaire. Alongside the Foundation, the company is involved in the “Le Dunkerquois Solidaire pour l’Emploi” initiative which creates socially useful jobs in non-profits that have signed agreements with the Foundation. These are genuine employment contracts for people who have been unemployed for at least two years, financed for 3 years by the Foundation, which is also involved in monitoring the projects and mentoring the recruits.

Since 2025, Aluminium Dunkerque has stood alongside the maritime club with a clear ambition: to support sporting and community life in the Dunkirk area, and to strengthen its ties with the local community.

Aluminium Dunkerque is also a partner of the USLD association, through which the company supports initiatives for young people and for women’s sport.
The company notably supports the USLD women’s team, which plays in Regional 1, as well as the club’s young registered players.
The partnership takes the form of concrete actions throughout the year: taking part in football camps, discovering the industrial world through visits to the Aluminium Dunkerque site, and organising meetings and job-dating sessions with the company’s teams for young people old enough to be thinking about their career path.
The support given to the women’s team is also part of Aluminium Dunkerque’s determination to contribute to the development and visibility of women’s sport across the area. Joint activities are organised between the USLD players and the women who work at Aluminium Dunkerque, encouraging exchanges and the sharing of experience.
Beyond sporting support, this partnership illustrates Aluminium Dunkerque’s determination to build bridges between sport, young people, employment and the business world, for the benefit of the Dunkirk area.
Aluminium Dunkerque also supports a number of sports clubs in the wider area to contribute to their development and the momentum they generate locally and beyond.
The Basket Club Maritime (BCM) Gravelines Dunkerque, which plays in the Betclic Elite.
The USDK, Dunkerque Grand Littoral handball club, which plays in the Liqui Moly Starligue.
Les Corsaires, ice hockey club which plays in Division 1.
The Racing Club de Calais (RCC), which plays in the Regional 1 division.
A strong partnership dynamic
Aluminium Dunkerque is a member of Pôlénergie, which supports companies and territories in the Hauts-de-France region in their decarbonisation strategy. Laurent Courtois, our Energy and Climate Director, has been its Chairman since 2022.
Aluminium Dunkerque also works closely with the Communauté Urbaine de Dunkerque and in particular, the Economy and Attractiveness Department, in connection with Dunkerque l’Energie Créative.
A shared history
Finally, Aluminium Dunkerque is a partner of the Dunkerque Port Center, a source of knowledge and information about the port, its stakeholders and its development projects.
