A charity clothing drive to support the employment of young people in the local area

Last April, Aluminium Dunkerque took part in a clothing collection drive in aid of the charity La Cravate Solidaire, with the support of the Fondation du Dunkerquois Solidaire, of which the company is a founding member. This charitable initiative rallied many employees around a common goal: to give professional clothing a new lease of life whilst supporting local young people’s access to employment.

For several weeks, a collection point set up within the company collected shirts, suits, trousers, shoes and professional accessories donated by staff, intended to support young people seeking employment, work placements or work-study schemes.

Indeed, through its initiatives, La Cravate Solidaire combats discrimination in recruitment based on appearance by providing local young people with interview-appropriate outfits free of charge. The charity thus helps to restore confidence in candidates who often face difficulties entering the workforce.

This initiative has extended far beyond the company itself, as employees from 10 of the Foundation’s partner companies have also got involved across the Dunkirk region. The result: over 219 kg of clothing collected for this charitable initiative. Congratulations to everyone who took part!
