Furnace 8, where we recycle end-of-life aluminium, is approaching its cruising speed. Technical acceptance tests are underway and 12,000 tonnes have been fed into the furnace since it started up on 14 April.
As expected, its energy performance is significant. Compared to furnace 7, which operates in the same way (same products, same equipment), it reduces gas consumption by 25% thanks to its oxy-combustion burners and sealed door, among other features.
This impressive performance has saved 1,100 MWh of natural gas in four months, compared to Kiln 7, which is equivalent to 2 million kilometres travelled by car.
