Emotion and sharing to start the year

On Thursday 23 January, Aluminium Dunkerque celebrated the New Year with its teams at lunchtime and its partners in the evening.

The internal ceremony began with the screening of a video based on employee testimonials highlighting what makes our company what it is: solidarity, sharing skills, gender diversity, safety and passion for the job.

Among the main 2024 successes highlighted, several records were broken in terms of energy efficiency, in particular our specific gas consumption in the kiln, which reached its lowest level since 2013, and our specific electricity consumption in electrolysis, which reached a performance not matched since 1991, placing AD among the world’s best aluminium smelters.

Other advances highlighted include the growing proportion of women in the workforce across all business lines and the creation of a new centre dedicated to quality of life in the workplace.

The major 2025 projects were then highlighted, including the commissioning of the first furnace dedicated to aluminium recycling in the spring, the first CO2 capture tests which will take place very shortly, and our action plan to preserve biodiversity.

From 6pm onwards, we welcomed 140 partners for an evening of exchange and conviviality. Emmanuelle Leroy, representing the CUD, Alison Marquilly for EDF, Cédric Fousse for ENGIE and Pascal Cerruti for Prologium, took to the stage on the theme of solidarity and collective commitment to transforming the region. To conclude the ceremony, Erick Boitel, Doctor in Performance Psychology, shared with the audience a few tips on how to ‘Be the boss of yourself’ in order to have a positive impact on individual and collective performance. It was a thought-provoking and instructive speech, much appreciated in these uncertain times!
