To cool its compressors, Aluminium Dunkerque has replaced traditional cooling towers with adiabatic towers. This innovative system operates in a closed circuit, significantly reducing water loss through evaporation. The result: a 75% reduction in water consumption in this area.
The first adiabatic tower was commissioned at the end of 2024, followed by two new installations in April 2025. Building on the success of this initiative, the site has decided to bring forward the construction of a fourth tower, with work due to start at the end of October and commissioning scheduled for December.
Thanks to these sustainable savings, Aluminium Dunkerque has secured its operating licence and eliminated the risk of Legionella proliferation, thereby enhancing the environmental and health performance of its industrial site.
