A first step towards recycling !

On Tuesday 14 January, Aluminium Dunkerque inaugurated its new storage building for internal and external foundry scrap. This building will enable the sector to remelt scrap quickly and feed Furnace 8 for the production of casting alloys. This is the first phase of the recycling project, with the second phase corresponding to the start-up of the new furnace in April 2025.

In a few figures, the 1,500 m2 required: 120 drums of concrete to make the slab, 16 tonnes of steel to make the structure, 88 piles to ensure stability, 130 tonnes of framework, 3,000 m2 of cladding, 1.2 km of copper cable to monitor the equipotential bonding of the building, all for 11 months of work and a total cost of 1.7 million euros.

Thank you to the contractors for making this project a success!
