Aluminium Dunkerque at the heart of industrial electrification challenges

On 4 February in Dunkirk, L’Usine Nouvelle and EDF organised the latest instalment of the Rencontres de l’Électrique, an event dedicated to the practical acceleration of the electrification of French industry.

On this occasion, Laurent Courtois, Director of Energy, Climate and Business Development, spoke on behalf of Aluminium Dunkerque during a round-table discussion focusing on the energy strengths and challenges of the Hauts-de-France region.

Discussions focused in particular on the region’s specific characteristics for accelerating electrification, the opportunities available to industrial sites, and the electrification solutions that are now mature.

This round table also brought together Maurice Georges, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Grand Port Maritime de Dunkerque, Frédéric Motte, Chair of the REV3 mission at the Hauts-de-France Regional Council, and Rafaël Ponce, Deputy Managing Director of the Dunkerque Urban Community and Managing Director of ÉcosystèmeD.

The event, moderated by Emmanuel Duteil, Editor-in-Chief of L’Usine Nouvelle, brought together nearly 150 industrial decision-makers, energy professionals, local authority representatives and stakeholders in the energy transition. All gathered around a common goal: to drive forward the electrification of industry across the regions in a practical and operational manner.
