On 15 May, Aluminium Dunkerque and EDF signed a memorandum of understanding setting out the principles of a 10-year electricity supply contract. The contract is part of EDF’s commercial policy to support industrial companies over the long term.
Aluminium Dunkerque and EDF have agreed to enter into an agreement to supply a substantial proportion of AD’s electricity requirements for a period of 10 years, starting on 1 January 2026. The final contract is expected to be signed by the end of July 2025.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Guillaume de Goÿs, Chairman of Aluminium Dunkerque, and Marc Benayoun, EDF Group Executive Director in charge of the Customers, Services and Territories Division.
With the end of the historic ARENH mechanism at the end of 2025, a long-term electricity contract tailored to our profile as a large consumer is the only way for us to avoid exposure to the volatility of the energy markets and to support our business in a fluctuating global aluminium market marked by intense international competition.
This agreement is fully in line with the industrial and environmental dynamic underpinning our LowCAL decarbonisation plan, by securing our low-carbon energy supply over the long term.
